Inferring Spatial Distance Rankings with Partial Knowledge on Routing Networks

چکیده

The most common problem on routing networks is to compute the shortest paths from a source vertex set of target vertices. A variation it, with applications for recommender systems, asks merely rank vertices respect distances source. classic solution Dijkstra’s algorithm; however, it too slow large but meaningful applications. setting where are fixed only known at query time allows preprocessing. Following line research preprocessing network speed up computation paths, we study in this article novel approach tackling ranking static regard distance given these by leveraging Our us generate partial pre-computing between all targets so that shortest-path algorithm does not have determine path every general. proposal can be adopted both and time-dependent networks, used conjunction general algorithm. We experimentally observe significant speed-ups when using our proposed techniques.

Inferring transition rates on networks with incomplete knowledge

Across many fields, a problem of interest is to predict the transition rates between nodes of a network, given limited stationary state and dynamical information. We give a solution using the principle of Maximum Caliber. We find the transition rate matrix by maximizing the path entropy of a random walker on the network constrained to reproducing a stationary distribution and a few dynamical av...

Inferring rankings under constrained sensing

We consider the problem of recovering a function on the space of permutations of n elements, denoted by Sn, using various forms of partial information. This problem naturally arises in various applications such as elections, ranking teams in a sports league, recommendation systems, etc. To begin with, we classify various forms of partial information through it’s natural relation to various type...

Distance Routing on Series Parallel Networks

In this paper we consider the problem of routing messages on Series Parallel Graphs (SPGs), and we introduce a new technique called Distance Routing. This technique is based on the idea of encoding in the label of each node x some information about a shortest path from the source of the SPG to x, and from x to the terminal node of the SPG. We rst compare shortest path Distance Routing and 1-Int...

Decentralized Routing on Spatial Networks with Stochastic Edge Weights

We investigate algorithms to find short paths in spatial networks with stochastic edge weights. Our formulation of the problem of finding short paths differs from traditional formulations because we specifically do not make two of the usual simplifying assumptions: (1) we allow edge weights to be stochastic rather than deterministic and (2) we do not assume that global knowledge of a network is...

Routing on spatiotemporal networks without global knowledge

The formulation of most shortest-path problems makes two simplifying assumptions: (1) the edge weights are deterministic, and (2) global knowledge of the network is available. I develop a decentralised routing algorithm providing en-route guidance for travellers without global knowledge on spatial networks with stochastic edge weights. The algorithm guides travellers using an estimation functio...
